Dr. Michael Barber
- P.E.; Ph.D., Civil Engineering

- Background: Academia and Private Consulting
Dr. Barber has over 30 years of experience in hydrology and water resources working in academics and in private consulting. Michael is very involved in multi-stakeholder projects where consensus building and information transfer are vital components. He is currently working on an investigation of climate change and land development impacts on water quantity and quality, using remote sensing techniques to determine crop water requirements at the watershed scale, and improving water security in Pakistan.

Dr. Christian Brockmann

Dr. Christian Brockmann has led large-scale construction projects worldwide, such as the Bang Na Expressway in Thailand and the Port Said Tunnels in Egypt. His extensive academic background includes degrees in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, and Construction Management, equipping him to oversee complex projects.

Travis Davis

Specializing in Design-Build and CM/GC, Travis is experienced in all forms of construction types, with a strong emphasis on tilt-up concrete construction - helping drive tilt-up to greater efficiency, value, and time-to-market. His team produces at least one Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) award winning project every year.

Dr. Abbas Rashidi

Since joining the University of Utah in 2017, Dr. Rashidi has always been an advocator of Design-Build as an efficient and modern delivery method for construction projects. He has been incorporating the Design-Build contents and the emerging technologies that facilitate better execution of this delivery method into his teaching and research activities.

Dr. Pedro Romero-Zambrana

Dr. Romero is a recognized expert in the area of asphalt materials and mechanical testing. His research aims to create more sustainable construction materials, with projects ranging from mechanical testing, mechanics of materials including visco-elasticity and plasticity, design and construction of pavements using mechanistic methods, and maintenance and rehabilitation of infrastructure systems.

David Veech

David Veech teaches operational excellence, lean systems, and lean leadership. David has written two best-selling books, taught at four universities, founded 2 successful international consulting firms that transformed organizations in dozens of industries and government agencies, and co-founded a non-profit.
Distinguished Alumni of our Program

Spending 30 years in education as a professor of civil engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Michael ultimately earned emeritus status in 2003. While employed by the prestigious university, Dr. Darter published hundreds of technical publications on transportation engineering infrastructure. Likewise, he is recognized as an expert in highway and airport pavement design, construction, evaluation, maintenance, and rehabilitation. In addition, Michael founded and managed ERES Consultants, Inc. from 1980 - 1999 and served as a senior principal engineer, conducting many national research and project design builds until retiring in 2022.

With over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Brandon has progressed from hands-on field roles to executive leadership, developing expertise in heavy civil construction, alternative project delivery, and transportation infrastructure. Since becoming President in 2016, he has driven RLW's strategic growth, overseeing major infrastructure projects, expanding the companies market presence, and fostering relationships with key industry stakeholder. His expertise in financial oversight, project execution, and business development has solidified RLW's reputation as a leader in heavy civil and alternatative project delivery methods.
